Senior Pastor - Stephen Gaut
Stephen’s role is to lead and shepherd the church as senior pastor. This entails keeping a strong focus on God’s Word and prayer and through oversight of different ministries to see people feel welcome and accepted; come to understand God’s love for them; to see who Jesus really is and what he has done for them; to grow in their faith; and to share Jesus and his love for people with all those around them.
Stephen Gaut began his working life as an Electrical Engineer and through the grace of God he has completed a number of graduate and post graduate courses through Sydney Missionary and Bible College (SMBC - Interdenominational) and Morling College (Baptist) and is now an Accredited and Ordained Minister.
Stephen has served in Associate roles in Baptist churches in Hornsby and Burwood before returning to the country to serve in Tamworth before taking up his current position at Parkes in January 2008.
Stephen is passionate about the local church. He loves people and has a desire to see those who don't know Jesus come to know him and grow strong in their faith.
He also loves his family, sport and in particular the Panthers NRL Club, and spending time with friends while drinking good coffee.
Stephen is married to Greta and they have three children: Alleyne, Nina, and Richard.
Associate Pastor - Matthew Kennedy
Matt's role as Associate Pastor is to oversee a number of the ministries undertaken by the Parkes Baptist Church. These include Mens Ministry (FORGE), Kid’s Church, Sparks (youth group for year 3-6 aged kids), Ignite (youth group for secondary school kids), Small Groups, the Evening Service, All-sorts dinner and jointly with the senior pastor the wider Pastoral Care and visitations of the church.
Matt grew up on a farming property in country NSW just out of Hillston. He then spent Seventeen and a half years in the banking sector, a majority of that time as a bank manager at different locations throughout country NSW. Matt, took up an opportunity to leave the bank and feeling a call to ministry, completed a Bachelor of Ministries with the Melbourne School of Theology. When completed Matt was called to be the associate pastor of Parkes Baptist Church in Country NSW.
Matthew has a passion for the Bible and to see the lost saved.
Matt has a wide variety of interests from reading and writing through to a keen interest in camping, fishing and hunting.
Matt is married to Lyndell and they have three children: Shynae, Harrison and Indianna.
